PREVIOUS THOUGHTS FOR THE DAY

February 5 2024 to February 11 2024

Monday February 5

Speaking Truth

There's an art to speaking truth to power. Finding the courage to tell someone who has authority over us that something isn't working (or that they're doing something wrong) takes courage. Mandela set a shining example of its effectiveness. But we can all bring positive change about. As Mercury (communication) moves into free-thinking Aquarius, there's no need to rock the boat to create a change of direction. By subtly nudging the person at the helm, a more harmonious route forwards can be found.

Tuesday February 6

Superbowl

My family watches The Superbowl together. But we're not particularly interested in the contest; my son and I have our own mini-battles over pizza slices while we wait for the half-time show. And although most convos about music and NFL are focused on the Taylor Swift/Travis Kelce romance it's Usher's performance we'll be analysing. With Mercury in Aquarius, it might be tempting to focus on details. But there's an element of wildness and fun in the air. Which we can all enjoy.

Wednesday February 7

Stranger on the Shore

As a kid, my family holidays often involved being dragged on country walks along the same stretches of coast of Eastern England. So, when some of the earliest human footprints were discovered on a Norfolk beach, I checked the photos to see if I recognised my sandal prints! Just kidding! Although my childhood feels like a lifetime ago, I'm not that old! These days I enjoy hiking. And as Venus links to quirky Uranus today, if we look at tired routines and traditions, we can rediscover our enthusiasm.

Thursday February 8

Mardi Gras

Different cultures around the world have their own ways of preparing for Lent. In places like Poland and Germany, today is known as 'Fat Thursday' where people eat donuts filled with jam. In Brazil, it's carnival time. And New Orleans is preparing for Mardi Gras. Although the UK's 'pancake day' might sound less exciting, it's a tradition I'll be throwing myself into with gusto. As the Uranus-linked New Moon approaches, we can find ways to have fun in even the ordinary aspects of our lives.

Friday February 9

Aquarian Moon

The New Moon in Aquarius is here. Aligned with the sign's ruler Uranus, it's hard to imagine a clearer cosmic call for change. Of course, it's one thing knowing that things need to be different. And another to work out what needs to be done. It's not easy to get the ball moving in the right direction; often it involves a leap of faith, and trusting that we can figure out the details as we go. The good news, is that this weekend, as Mercury aligns with lucky Jupiter and inspiring Neptune, any optimism will be well-rewarded.

Saturday February 10

Your Weekly Horoscope

It's Chinese New Year and 4722 is the Year of the Dragon. I'm no expert in Chinese astrology, but I know a bit about dragons; they represent ambition and passionate enthusiasm. And their determination can lead to fiery impatience. As Mars heads into Aquarius this week, that sounds appropriate! Yet the power planet's Valentine's Day link with Pluto suggests subtle confidence will have a more powerful effect than brash displays of strength. Kindness is the key to enabling positive change..
