PREVIOUS THOUGHTS FOR THE DAY

April 18 2022 to April 24 2022

Monday April 18

Closing Time

When it's closing time in a pub, the lights are often turned up as a sign for people to get on their way. Back in my dating days, this was often a game changing moment. In the harsh light, the gentle mist of love easily evaporated. Yet consequentially, as I discovered with my wife, when an intense and deep connection remained despite the adverse conditions, the relationship was worth investigating. Following the weekend's Pink Full Moon, Mercury and Uranus' conjunction can be similarly revelatory.

Tuesday April 19

Kourtney Kardashian

When I was growing up, the socialites of the day where called 'It Girls' and often featured in 'lads' magazines. These days, stars like Kourtney Kardashian, who's just celebrated her birthday, rise to fame via social media and Reality TV. But with so much competition it's hard to stay relevant and profitable. Sometimes, it takes controversy to generate headlines. Fortunately, with Venus extricating itself from the centre of the Sun and Pluto's relationship today, love and money needn't be so complicated.

Wednesday April 20

Better Call Saul

Last night, the new season of Better Call Saul premiered on a certain streaming giant. I wasn't sure I'd ever enjoy watching anything as much as Breaking Bad, but this spin-off is possibly even better! Of course, binge-watching is something many of us got used to during the lockdowns. And with the Sun moving into Taurus, it's important not to get stuck in any self-indulgent ruts. We're being encouraged to enjoy the pleasures of life. There's nothing wrong with spoiling ourselves a little today!

Thursday April 21

Happy Birthday

It's the Queen's birthday today, but what do you get for the person who's got everything? Of course, in days of old, royalty really did own everything in the kingdom, so presumably, loyalty and love was their most treasured present. These days, with her subjects having slightly more autonomy, she'd probably be happy with a gift token! With the Sun now in Taurus, our thoughts may turn to resources, and how to get more of them. But first, it's worth questioning what we value the most.

Friday April 22

Earth Day

It's Earth Day today, a UNESCO event demonstrating support for environmental protection. It was originally held at the Equinox, but nowadays (and very appropriately) it's observed when the Sun has moved into the Earth sign of Taurus. Earth signs are the part of the zodiac that encourage constructive, tactile feelings centred around looking after what we have (rather than chasing after the latest craze). And, as Mercury links to Saturn and Neptune this weekend, serious focus gives rise to exciting ideas.

Your Weekly Horoscope

England does not yet honour its patron saint with a holiday. Given that St George's Day is also Shakespeare's birthday, surely this situation requires a rethink? I'd like an extra day off please! This week, there may be no dragons around, but, as Pluto turns backwards, forgotten fears could resurface. Yet with Venus linked to Neptune, and Mercury heading home, there'll be more play-writing than monster-fighting. A mix of faith and creativity can turn any Shakespeare-style tragedy into triumph.
